We need You!

We need You!

Our Wethersfield MOPS experience is drawing to a close. We are just two short meetings away from the end of the MOPS ‘year.’ That being said, many of the ladies working behind the scene are graduating or moving on. That is where you come in. Have you benefited from time spent with other moms like you? Have you enjoyed taking home a craft completed in just one day? Have you listened to others share a bit of themselves in a way that touched your heart? Do you have a hunger for more MOPS??

Your Wethersfield MOPS Steering Team is a group of moms from the community, from different churches & schools, but more importantly, the Steering Team are moms that desire to come together to grow in the mothering years both practically and spiritually. We all value this special time away from our usual to-do list to build friendships and have fun! If you have a heart for the MOPS experience and hope to see it grow, please consider joining our Steering Team today! Here are just a few of the key roles that have made this team successful:

  • Coordinator (someone who likes planning/ leading)
  • MOPPETS Coordinator (someone who likes planning/leading childcare staff)
  • Hospitality (someone who likes to greet moms, feed moms)
  • Publicity (someone who likes to design published materials to get the word out about MOPS)
  • Mentor Mom (someone who likes to connect with young moms sharing stories and just listening… someone with years of mothering experience:) Someone who values the MOPS experience and assists the team in planning meaningful meetings/events)

If you have questions about the MOPS Steering Team, contact us! We need You!

Friday, March 2nd, we enjoyed our Dinner Prep Event with Connie Rivera and new this year, Kirsten Paluska, also a MOPS mama, with her savory soups ~ Bowls of Comfort. Thank you ladies for all of the time, organization and planning that went into making this MOPS event so successful! Enjoy the slideshow and tell your friends the benefits of make ahead meals. Connie & Kirsten’s contact information can be found on our “Friends of MOPS” page located at the top of our home page.

Here is some poetry to say thank you to Connie & Kirsten.

Our freezers are full;
Our time was well spent.
Connie made ‘dinner prep’ easy;
What a great MOPS event!

Time to savor the meals,
With our families ’round the table;
Just defrost, preheat, bake.
Follow the directions on the label.

If you purchased soup from Kirsten,
You are in for a real treat;

Dim the lights, add some candles,
While your kitchen remains neat!

Our next meeting is a Friday!

What:  MOPS Dinner Prep Party

When:  FRIDAY, March 2nd at 9:00 am

Where:  First Church’s Keith Jones Hall

What is a Dinner Prep Party?

A Dinner Prep Party is a fun gathering where MOPS get together to assemble meals to bring home to our families.

The recipes and all the ingredients are provided for you.  You just come and put it together.  When you go home, you have meals for your freezer that are ready to cook.

Each meal is one answer to “What’s for Dinner?”

What you need to do:

1)  Fill out a MOPS_2012_description_and_order_form, marking off the quantity and size of each meal selection you would like.  Return the order sheet with your payment.

2)  Pay Connie by February 16th at the latest.  This takes a lot of planning and she would like to know what to purchase with as much notice as possible.

What to bring the day of the event:

1)  A cooler (or box) in which to bring home your meals;

2)  An apron if you would like; and

3)  If your hair is long enough, please wear it back.

Child Care has been arranged for this day at the usual cost of $5.00 per child.  To RSVP (for child care only), please email

Karen Christensen at ektchristensen@cox.net.
